North India

India really is something else and has to be seen to be believed - one of the best countries to enjoy on a tour experience and probably my favourite tour destination.

Be very ready for ten days of fabulous sensory overload in India. We give ourselves over to the very different locations of Jaipur, Goa, Kolkata and Darjeeling. India is a land of extremes and our tour encompasses spicy cooking lessons, shopping, magical candle lit feasts, camel cart rides, farm and village visits, accommodation in old palaces and sumptuous resorts.

We try traditional fabric block printing in Jaipur, cook with coconut and seafood in the beach paradise of Goa, enjoy a Bengali feast in a beautiful heritage apartment in Kolkata and learn how to taste and grade tea in Darjeeling.

So come and join us... India awaits!

IMPORTANT: For this tour you must be physically fit and healthy with no mobility issues. There is a lot of walking involved and the temperatures are hot.

About our tours

Our mission has always been to provide really authentic gastronomic and cultural experiences. We travel initially to lose ourselves and next to find ourselves, because travel cracks us open and so pushes us over all the walls and low horizons that habits and defensiveness set up.

Behind every person and every household is a story of local traditions and daily life in villages and towns. Traditional food is about ancestral memories and looking back and holding on to old cultures – it is profoundly about identity.  Come with us and partake in the honesty, grace, generosity and fun that is a Peta Mathias tour. Suitable for fit and healthy gastronomic adventurers!

We absolutely loved every single minute of India. The food was divine... every single meal... dinners at the stunning homes of your friends and everything in between... from the desert food at Diggi farm to the gorgeous pinkness of the Raj Mahal. I really loved that Tibetan chicken noodle soup on the last night.... and the pork at the picnic. So many yummy memories. So thank you so much Peta, a very well planned & executed taste of India ending in complete luxury at Glenburn... gorgeous people, scenery, tranquility... ah... the bed tea!

India was always on my to-do-one-day list and without your inspiration we may never have come to enjoy and experience this amazing country. Your tour was fabulous - fun, informative and just totally enjoyable. We enjoyed your company and your beautiful singing! We are still awe struck in amazement thinking of the sights and places we visited.
