Welcome to my luxury shopping tour in India focusing on fashion, textiles, interiors and jewellery. Enjoy ten days of elegant sensory overload – a hot pink spice saga of beauty and inspiration.
India is a land of colour, noise, laughter, poverty, fabulous food and gorgeous clothes. I’ve been enchanted by it for a very long time and have hosted group tours all over this complex continent since 2014. This time it’s about shopping for the best, the traditional and the innovative in clothes, gems, furniture, homeware, artisan textiles, carpets. We start in dazzling Delhi and jump straight away into shopping and learning - upscale Khan market, racing around the wedding market in rickshaws in Old Delhi and getting bespoke shoes made for ourselves in New Delhi.
We then fly down to the deeply traditional, brilliantly artistic desert state of Rajasthan, starting in the blue city of Jodhpur. One of our creative learning experiences includes a tie-dye workshop. In between lying around staring up at the gob-smacking Mehrangarh Fort from the comfort of our luxury hotel Raas, we visit warehouses and shops and hightail it into the Thar desert to check out the traditional Bishnoi villages for their weaving, carpet making, pottery, textiles and jewellery.
Our last stop is the pink city of Jaipur - gem capitol of the world. This is where we really get into the shopping, learn how to do Bollywood dancing, learn how to block-print and learn how to party. You will have noticed by now that there is no such thing as too much bling in Rajasthan. You can get clothes made here, spend time with elephants and eat delicious food.
IMPORTANT: For this tour you must be physically fit and healthy with no mobility issues. There is a lot of walking involved and the temperatures are hot.
